Sierra Nevada - Estate Ale

While Dave and I brewed on 10/31, we tasted the only Organic offering from Sierra Nevada.  This beer won the 2010 National Craft Brewing challenge and we were told we must try it by the friendly folks down at 7Bridges.

We didn't take any notes but came to the conclusion that this is the beer we want to drink.  When we think of opening a bottle of our beer, or pulling on the tap at Daves house...this is the beer we want!  We both think our recent CopperHead is pretty close and we are now on the hunt to modify that recipe to get close to this wonderful stuff.  We are going to keep making other things, of course, but this is going to be the first one we really try over and over, tweaking as we go.

Yes, a bit pricey but this is an Estate Ale...ie they grow all the barley and hops on premise.

  1. What Gresham said! After enjoying another bottle of this worthy brew with Mary Anne, I'd add that the hop distribution in this beer was really broad and balanced--there were medium-strong bittering, flavor and aroma hops, and none really predominated. That these were then balanced by the malt is what makes it so solid and drinkable. As Gresham said, what you want when you drink a beer. The new gold standard!
