It Begins

Now we can keep track of our brewing exploits! We'll see if we're ready to share them with the world (and vice versa).

Mary Anne & I went to Red tonight to taste 7 different Belgian ales--pure research, and pure fun! Mary Anne took copious notes and will post them here soon.

  1. Hello Guys.
Nice meeting you the other day at Southern Brewing in Tampa. I brewed my dog fish IPA last night. I had friends over and I put each and every one of them to work for the constant 60-minute hopping. Still no bubbles in my carboy 24 hours later...I am a little bit worried because I did not follow the proper pitching procedure (I just emptied the liquid yeast and nutrient into my 80F wort without following instruction on package) I realized my mistake too late. Went back to the store today and they say I should be fine. I have a bad feeling though and I think the yeast went through thermal shock because it went straight from my fridge into the wort. I am thinking of getting a new yeast package and do it properly...any advices, comments?

    Thanks!

  2. Hi, Hugo--I sent a post that didn't seem to go through. But by this time you probably have resolved your issue with the slow start (I used to have to wait 36 hours or more before starting to see activity--now I prepare a starter a day or 2 ahead). What did you do, and how's it going! Best wishes--cheers!
